The Yoga Pearl is proud to offer you our Yoga Teacher Training Intensive program. At the end of our Teacher Intensive, you will be a Certified Yoga Teacher with 200 hours of training. Our Teacher Training Intensive is affiliated with the Independent Yoga Educators of America (IYEA). The Yoga Pearl believes that while Yoga Alliance is a useful organization to some Yoga educators, it is not a governing body. It is simply a business you, as a Yoga educator, pays dues to. Working with the IYEA, The Yoga Pearl brings you a certification program that allows independence for the student to learn the art of Yoga without the involvement of any businesses. The Independent Yoga Educators of America was founded on July 4, 2009 by Leslie Kaminoff (author of Yoga Anatomy).
On the IYEA website, Kaminoff states, "IYEA’s mission is to promote and protect the independence of the yoga teaching community in America. IYEA embraces completely voluntary standards for the education training of teachers and students. IYEA endorses resistance to any entity that assumes the authority to license, regulate, or enforce its standards upon the yoga community."
In The United States of America, there is no governing body of Yoga (including Yoga Alliance). We, here at The Yoga Pearl, revel in the sacred tradition that Yoga is a personal journey, and the teaching of Yoga should be treated as such.
The IYEA Statement of Principles is as follows:
I am an independent yoga educator.
I teach about the value of personal freedom on all levels of human experience.
I embrace my own standards for my education, and the training of my students, and am willing to be held accountable for living up to those standards.
I value my freedom to conduct my relationships without coercive interference by third parties.
I will resist to the best of my ability any entity that assumes the authority to license or regulate me as a yoga educator or to enforce its standards upon me
If you would like to move more deeply into your own practice and/or teach yoga to others, The Yoga Pearl Teacher Intensive may be for you! This program is taught by Kate, who is certified at the 500 Hour Level and has over 10 years of experience teaching yoga. The Yoga Pearl is affiliated with IYEA (Independent Yoga Educators of America) and is focused on the spiritual, emotional, mental, and physical aspects of yoga practice.

Supplemental Class/Teacher Training Schedule 2017
The Yoga Pearl will offer the Teacher Training Schedule in a whole new way this year! We consistently receive requests from practitioners for ways to deepen their knowledge of yoga principles and practices without going through Teacher Training. This year, all of the workshops will be offered to anyone who wants to take them (including Teacher Candidates) in a module format. Sign up for one class, several classes, or continue on for a Teaching Certificate! All of the following classes (except for the Teacher Support Group) are open to all practitioners!
If you are a Teacher Candidate, any of the classes marked with an "R" are required courses. The required materials are also listed. Perhaps you cannot make the full commitment this year to finish the training course, you may carry over the courses for one year - once you have all of the requirements completed, you may apply for the certificate. We will hold one graduation ceremony per year, on the second Saturday of September. So, if you like to push right through, you may be certified by September 9, 2017! (Or you may want to wait until the next graduation date in September 2018). Please plan on attending the required informational meeting on Saturday, January 7, 2017 from 1:00-2:00 pm for all the details.
The prices are included for each course. For those of you on the Teacher Candidate track, the entire course (without the cost of materials and studio classes) is $1200.00. There is no need for a "payment" plan, as payment is only required when you sign up for the course itself. This makes the course more easily affordable also. The certificate you will receive at the end of the training is for Basic Teaching Skills (formerly known as the 200 CYT certificate). Look for the Intermediate Teaching Skills (formerly known as the 300 CYT certificate) Course requirements available in Fall 2017 and a new Advanced Teaching Skills Course (equivalent to a 500 CYT certificate) available in Spring 2018!
